Full Recount Ordered for M.D. of Bonnyville Election Ballots

A full recount of all ballots from the 2025 Municipal Election is currently underway in the Municipal District of Bonnyville.

The recount was ordered under Section 98 of the Alberta Local Authorities Election Act after an error was discovered during the verification of the unofficial results earlier this week.

Candidates and their scrutineers have been invited to observe the process, which is being overseen by Returning Officer Stephanie Severin.

“Confidence in the 2025 Municipal Election and maintaining and enhancing the trust of our residents, not only in this process but in the municipality, is imperative for the M.D.,” said Severin. “We will post updates to our website and social media platforms as they become available.”
