Harrison Shines as Rookie of the Week for the Pontiacs
The Bonnyville Pontiacs have a rising star on their hands. Sixteen-year-old forward Gavin Harrison has been named the Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week after posting five points (2G, 3A) in three games from September 22nd–28th.
The Cold Lake product is turning heads early in his AJHL career, leading all rookies with eight points (3G, 5A) while riding a five-game point streak. Harrison kicked off the Pontiacs’ South Division road swing with authority, netting two goals and an assist in a 9-4 victory over the Olds Grizzlys. He kept the momentum rolling with helpers against both the Canmore Eagles and Calgary Canucks to cap off the weekend.
While Harrison stole the rookie spotlight, other AJHL standouts were also recognized. Will Lutic (Canmore Eagles) earned Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week honours with nine points (3G, 6A) in three games, highlighted by a five-point night against Olds. Between the pipes, Noah Nelson (Calgary Canucks) was named the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week after back-to-back wins and a .959 save percentage.
