BRFA issues a Fire Restriction

A fire restriction is now in effect across the Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87, the Summer Villages of Bonnyville Beach and Pelican Narrows, and the Village of Glendon as of  September 19, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.

 

What’s Not Allowed

  • No new burn permits will be issued.
  • All current fire permits are suspended, including burn barrels and incinerators.
  • All outdoor fires presently burning must be extinguished, even if they were set under permit.

 

 

Prohibited activities include:

  • Outdoor wood fires on public lands such as backcountry and random camping areas
  • Any burning other than a campfire on private land
  • Barbecue charcoal briquettes on public land in backcountry or random camping areas
  • Fireworks and exploding targets

 

 

What’s Still Allowed

  • Safe wood campfires on private land and in provincial campgrounds with a designated fire ring
  • Barbecue charcoal briquettes on private land and in provincial campgrounds
  • Propane fire pits and natural gas appliances (CSA approved, used as per manufacturer’s standards)
  • Indoor wood fires and open flame oil devices

 

 

Safety Reminder

The Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority reminds residents: Never leave a campfire unattended. Soak it, stir it and soak it again until it is cool to the touch.

 

Anyone who spots a wildfire should immediately call 310-FIRE. Updates will be posted at albertafirebans.ca.
