Haying in the 30s event ready to roll this weekend
One of the Lakeland’s most celebrated events with a reach to support thousands of families is ready to kick off Saturday morning.
Haying in the 30s has arrived for two days full of history. Like a trip through a time machine, dedicated volunteers have maintained and prepared the grounds in Mallaig for a showcase of what farmlife was like almost a hundred years ago.
The event, which is done by donations only, gives back the money to families who are dealing with cancer diagnosis. They don’t sell anything, there is no admission, or no charge for food either.
This is the 27th annual event, and through their history, they’ve helped over 5000 with financial assistance, as people apply from all over Alberta and beyond.
The opening ceremonies and parade kick off at 10:00AM and then the various displays are open to peruse.
There are dedicated workshops or showcases to look at, or you can sift through the various maintained buildings that make Haying in the 30s a living museum.
More information about the board and event can be found on their website.
