UPDATED: Fatal collision at Highway 659 & 657 intersection Tuesday

A serious collision Tuesday morning proved fatal as one person has died.

Bonnyville RCMP said emergency responders got to the report of the collision at the intersection of Highway 659 & 657 at 6:40AM.

The M.D. of Bonnyville confirmed this in a press release that the individual who died was an employee, a 55-year-old Bonnyville resident.

The collision between an SUV and a semi truck, is under investigation, but fog is believed to be a contributing factor.

The intersection was closed for a significant time, re-opening at about 4:00PM.

“The Council and staff of the Municipal District of Bonnyville wish to extend our deepest sympathies to those affected by the fatal accident that occurred this morning,” the M.D. said.
