Two people rack up gun charges after traffic stop in Elk Point
Two people are facing several charges after a traffic stop.
On Thursday, June 19, at approximately 3:00AM, members of the Elk Point Detachment were conducting patrols in town and stopped a vehicle for equipment violations.
Members say they saw suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, leading to the arrest of the driver and occupants.
In a followup search, a handgun, stolen identification cards and banks cards, as well as a small quantity of methamphetamine were seized.
Christopher Robinson, 43, of Bonnyville, has been charged with:
- Possession of a firearm when unauthorized,
- Unsafe storage of a firearm,
- Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle,
- Fail to comply with release order
- Failure to comply with weapons possession order.
Tessa Sakowsky, 44, of Two Hills County, has been charged with:
- Illegal possession of Government documents (x9),
- Possession of a firearm when unauthorized,
- Unsafe storage of a firearm,
- Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.
Robinson was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody. Robinson is scheduled to appear in court on June 24, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Bonnyville.
Sakowsky was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was released on a $1000 Promise to Pay. Sakowsky is scheduled to appear in court on July 10th, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Paul.
