Tyler Wamboldt signs with Bonnyville Pontiacs
A young Manitoba hockey player will be joining the Bonnyville Pontiacs in the upcoming season.
Tyler Wamboldt has signed with the team for the 2025-26 campaign.
“I would like to thank the Pontiacs organization for giving me this opportunity,” said Tyler Wamboldt in a press release on Friday.
“I would also like to thank my former coaches, my advisor James, my player development coach Joe, as well as my parents for supporting me as I continue to pursue my hockey dreams.
“I’m looking forward to inspiring the younger hockey players in Bonnyville and showing them what it means to be a Pontiac. I would also like to let the fans know that I’m fluent in French and love to help out around the community whenever I can.”
Playing for the U18 AAA Norman Northstars last season, the 18-year-old forward produced 30 goals and 37 assists for a total of 67 points in just 45 games played.
He is currently listed with the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and is coming off a strong second season in the MU18HL.
“Tyler is a type of player that is hard to find now,” said Pontiacs general manager Chad Nelson. “Tyler has a fierce work ethic and a pest mentality. Although he’s not the biggest player, there is no corner or puck battle that Tyler won’t go into expecting to win.
“His constant motor and persistence is something we lacked here this past season, so we are excited to inject Tyler into our lineup and watch him grow and develop under coach Mercier and the staff. Tyler is a listed prospect with the Calgary Hitmen and will be at their Main Camp come the fall as well.”
