A Bonnyville woman is facing a drug trafficking charge after being in possession of over 500 grams of cocaine.
Airdrie RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 2 at roughly 3:00AM on Saturday morning. Through their stop, they believed the lone driver could be in possession of controlled substances.
The driver was detained for a drug investigation and a police sniffer dog from the Alberta Roving Traffic Unit was deployed around the vehicle and provided a positive indication. The driver was arrested, and the vehicle was searched incidental to arrest.
RCMP said on Monday they located 504 grams of suspected cocaine and 14 grams of suspected meth.
Heather Ashley Cote, 33, a resident of Bonnyville, was charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Breach of Release Order
After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Cote was remanded into custody and is schedule to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Airdrie on May 9, 2025.
