Vehicle stop leads to drug seizure: Elk Point RCMP

Four people are facing charges after an RCMP checkstop saw illicit drugs seized by authorities.

On Wednesday, April 23, at approximately 3:00AM, members of the Elk Point Detachment were conducting patrols near Elk Point and completed a traffic stop with a suspicious vehicle that was attempting to elude police. 

During the traffic stop, police say three occupants of the vehicle were breaching conditions of court orders and were arrested. While executing the arrest, members observed drug paraphernalia and suspected drugs in the vehicle.

All occupants of the vehicle were subsequently arrested.

During the search, RCMP recovered:

  • 45 grams of suspected methamphetamine,
  • six grams of suspected cocaine,
  • one gram of suspected heroin,
  • a small quantity of fentanyl
  • other paraphernalia consistently used in drug trafficking

Charges

Shane Fayant, 46, of Fishing Lake, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (x4) and fail to comply with conditions of a release order (x2).

Kezia Lewis, 39, of Onion Lake, Saskatchewan, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (x4).

Eliza Lewis, 37, of Onion Lake, Saskatchewan, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (x4).

Logan Berland, 23, of Frog Lake, Alberta, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (x4).

Shane Fayant and Kezia Lewis were taken before a Justice of the Peace and both were remanded into custody. Both are scheduled to appear in court on May 1st, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Paul.

Eliza Lewis was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was released on $200 bail. Lewis is scheduled to appear in court on May 22, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Paul.

Berland was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was released on $250 bail. Berland is scheduled to appear in court on May 22, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Paul.
