Mailbox thefts on the rise, already more than in all of 2024

Thieves have been busy cracking into Canada Post boxes in Bonnyville.

Social media users have reported more break-ins to the mailboxes in recent weeks, and the trend is backed up by data from the Bonnyville RCMP.

Info sent to Lakeland Connect confirms there has been 12 mailbox thefts in town in 2025, which is one more than the total reported to police in 2024.

In 2023, there were 23 reported thefts from mailboxes, police say.

“There was a significant decline from 2023 to 2024, but it seems to be on the rise again as 2025 as numbers are on track with 2023,” RCMP said.
