William J. Cadzow – Lac La Biche Healthcare Centre to get evaluated for upgrades

Published On: April 9, 2025By

The William J. Cadzow – Lac La Biche Healthcare Centre has been one of 20 facilities listed for potential upgrades.

The provincial government announced in Budget 2025 a new Rural Hospital Enhancement Program, that promises $330 million in investment over the next three years.

Specifically, this program looks to better address rural health challenges and provide greater access to essential health services, the province says.

The Lac La Biche Healthcare Centre is listed as part of the first phase of planning, where it would be evaluated.

“Rural Albertans should be able to access the health care services they need close to home,” said Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Health, in a press release from Mar. 31.

“The new Rural Hospital Enhancement Program will ensure we are continuing to make data-driven decisions, and that resources are being appropriately deployed to address the areas with the greatest need.”
