A 20-year-old Vermilion resident is facing multiple charges following an RCMP investigation into a reported inappropriate relationship with a minor. On March 24, 2025, Vermilion RCMP received a complaint, prompting an investigation that resulted in several serious charges against the accused, including sexual interference and luring a minor via telecommunication.

As a result of this investigation, Spencer Carlson, a 20-year-old resident of Vermilion, was arrested and charged with:

  • Sexual Interference;
  • Invitation to sexual touching;
  • Luring via telecommunication;
  • Sexual assault; and
  • Possession of child pornography.

Carlson was brought before a justice of the peace, where he was released from custody. Carlson is set to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion on May 5, 2025.
