Vermilion RCMP Respond to Weapons Complaint, Male Youth Charged

On 28 February 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Vermilion RCMP responded to a weapons complaint in the area of 47 Street. Officers attended the location, located the suspect, and determined that the weapon was not functional.

As a precaution, a nearby school was briefly placed into lockdown to ensure public safety. Following further assessment, officers confirmed there was no risk to the public.

The individual, a male youth under the age of 18, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Uttering threats against a person x2
  • Using a firearm in the commission of an offence
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous person
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Assault with a weapon x2

The youth was brought before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody. They are scheduled to appear in court on 3 March 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion.

As the suspect is a youth, no further information can be provided in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
