Stolen vehicle pursuit out of Frog Lake lands four with charges

Image: Elk Point RCMP. Four people, including a youth, are facing a series of charges related to stopping a stolen vehicle. 

On Wednesday, Feb. 19, at approximately 5:00PM, members of the Elk Point RCMP were conducting patrols on the Frog Lake First Nation after a reported sighting of a stolen vehicle. 

Elk Point members attempted a traffic stop with the stolen vehicle which attempted to evade police.

Several local police crews came to help, as they disabled the vehicle and arrested those inside without incident. 

A shotgun and other weapons were found in the vehicle.

Trevor Moyah, 27, of Frog Lake, has been charged with:

  • Operating a conveyance while prohibited (x4),
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle,
  • Flight from a peace officer,
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order (x2),
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle,
  • Fail to comply with release order (x2),
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (x2). 

Kayla Moocheweines, 31, of Frog Lake, has been charged with: 

  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose,
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm,
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle,
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Failing to comply with release order (x4). 

Tyson Moyah, 19, of Frog Lake, has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000,
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose,
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm,
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle,
  • Failing to comply with release order (x3). 

A 16-year-old male, who cannot be named, of Frog Lake has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle. 

Trevor and Tyson Moyah, as well as Moocheweines, were taken before a Justice of the Peace and were remanded into custody. 

The three are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Mar. 6, at the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Paul. 

The 16-year-old male was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was released on a court order. The youth is scheduled to appear in court on March 13th, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Paul. 

Elk Point Detachment members were helped by Bonnyville Detachment, St. Paul Traffic Services, Police Dog Section, Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit and Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction unit.
