The Bonnyville RCMP were involved in 173 investigations from January 24-31.

Assault with weapon

On Sunday, Jan. 26, at 2:45PM the Bonnyville RCMP were dispatched to a residence in Kehewin.

Several community members were sitting around outside when one of them through a metal object at another person.

The suspect then picked up the piece of metal and left on foot.

RCMP quickly located and arrested the male who was also found to be on Probation.

Jesse McKay, 35 year old, of Kehewin is charged with Assault with a Weapon and Failing to Comply with a Probation Order.

A bail hearing was held and a Justice of the Peace released him with a first appearance set for February 18th.

MAS leads to driving penalties

On Tuesday, Jan. 28, just after midnight a member of the Bonnyville RCMP was conducting proactive patrols and noted a vehicle with a non-matching license plate in the area of 50th street and 54th Avenue.

A traffic stop was initiated which revealed the driver was suspended.

The officer conducted Mandatory Alcohol Screening with the driver who did not pass.

The driver was arrested and later released on Provincial Sanctions and the vehicle was towed.

The 30 year old male from Bonnvyille was issued violation tickets for Driving while Suspended and Driving an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.  Both charges come with a mandatory court date of March 25th.

The officer exercised discretion in issuing a Warning for the unauthorized licence plate.

Banned patron

On Thursday, Jan. 30, a male who had been previously banned entered a gas station in Kehewin.

When staff asked the man to leave he uttered a threat to the clerk then left without paying for the items he had taken from the shelves.

Cary Badger, 38 year old, of Kehewin, is charged with Uttering Threats, Theft Under $5000 and Mischief and was scheduled before a Justice of the Peace for a Bail Hearing on Friday.
