Bonnyville RCMP are looking for an assailant that used bear spray to steal an item during a transaction.
On Tuesday, Jan. 28, at approximately 1:30PM, police say a Bonnyville resident selling an item online arranged to meet a buyer in a parking lot on the east end of town shared by several businesses.
During the transaction, the “buyer” bear sprayed the victim in the face, taking the item out of his hands and fled on foot.
The suspect was captured on local video surveillance and the Bonnyville RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the culprit.
If you have any information regarding this crime please call the Bonnyville RCMP at 780-826-3358 or Crimestoppers.
S/Sgt. Sarah Parke would like to remind community members that there is a designated “Exchange Zone” in the Bonnyville RCMP parking lot where people buying and selling items online can meet to make their transaction.
