Three people charged with first degree murder after several month long investigation

Three people have been charged for first-degree murder in relation to the death of 34-year-old Jeremy Collins of Kikino Metis Settlement. 

William Curtis White, Amber Hope, and Randall Louis Gadwa each were arrested this week in relation to the homicide. 

On Apr. 18, 2024, Lac La Biche RCMP located a fire pit containing human remains in the area of Kikino.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was deployed and took carriage of the investigation.

Several police detachments including Lac La Biche RCMP, Bonnyville RCMP, Wabasca RCMP, Drumheller RCMP General Investigations Section and General Duty officers, Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Team, the Emergency Response Team and St. Paul RCMP Forensic Identification Services, were part of the investigation. 

RCMP said the investigation identified three suspects in connection to the death of Jeremy Collins.

On Friday, Jan. 17, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit arrested two of the individuals, William Curtis White, a 33-year-old resident of Wabasca, Alta., and Amber Hope, a 26-year-old resident of Kikino.

They have been charged with first degree murder and indignity to human remains.

Both White and Hope were taken before a Justice of the Peace and were remanded into custody.

They are scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 3, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lac La Biche.

Then yesterday, on Wednesday, Jan. 22, the third suspect, Randall Louis Gadwa, a 31-year-old resident of Kehewin Cree Nation, was charged with first degree murder.

Randall was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 6, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lac La Biche.
