Sprecker to have prelim hearing August 2025 facing child porn charges

A Lac La Biche man who was working at an elementary school and facing child pornography charges will go to trial in 2025.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 26, 2025 in Lac La Biche.

Eric Sprecker, 24, was charged with possession and distribution of child porn, police announced on Sept. 11, following a search warrant from RCMP and Alberta RCMP Internet Child Exploitation Unit.

He worked as an educational assistant and Out of School Care worker at Vera M. Welsh Elementary School for two years, Northern Lights Public Schools confirmed.

Lac La Biche RCMP were originally notified that the suspect was believed to be in possession of child pornography and distributed it online.

Police said at the time the victim is not believed to be from the area.
