Disturbances, stolen property: Bonnyville RCMP report

Bonnyville RCMP were involved in 135 investigations between Dec. 13-20. 

Suspended license/MAS

On Dec. 12, at 3:30AM a member of the Bonnyville RCMP was conducting proactive patrols in the area of Range Road 460 and Township Road 600 and pulled over a vehicle. 

The driver had a suspended licence, which means there is zero tolerance for alcohol. 

The officer proceeded with Mandatory Alcohol Screening which showed the driver had alcohol in his system.   

The 25 year old male from Bonnyville was issued Provincial Sanctions for Impaired Driving and a Summons under the Traffic Safety Act to appear in court Jan. 21, 2025 for Driving while Suspended.

The Bonnyville RCMP were involved in 135 investigations between December 13-20.

Disturbance

On Dec. 13 at 12:30AM the Bonnyville RCMP were called to a local hotel for a disturbance being caused by two men. 

Members attended and located an intoxicated male responsible for causing the disturbance.

He was arrested, lodged in cells and released when sober with a $120 violation ticket under the Gaming & Liquor Act as well as a $486 violation ticket for having more than one driver’s licence in his possession.

Driver losing control

On Dec. 19, Bonnyville RCMP members were on patrol and observed a vehicle nearly lose control into the ditch. 

A roadside check was conducted with the driver who was found to be suspended and in possession of meth. 

A 36 year old male from Kehewin was arrested and charged with Driving while Prohibited and Possession of Meth. 

He was released roadside and will appear in court in 2025.

Stolen property, drugs

On Dec. 20 at 2:00AM, RCMP conducted patrols near a residence in the area of 66 Street and 49 Ave where a stolen truck from Smoky Lake had been spotted previously. 

Members located the truck parked at the apartment style complex and approached it to find a male passed out inside. 

The male was immediately arrested and found to have methamphetamine in his pockets. 

Keith Cardinal, 38 year old, of Kikino, is charged with Possession of a Stolen Truck Over $5000, Possession of Methamphetamine, Failing to Comply with a Release Order and three counts of Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000. 

He is awaiting a bail hearing to determine whether he will be remanded or released.
