Vermilion RCMP lay 61 charges in November

During the month of November 2024, Vermilion RCMP responded to 228 calls for service.

In the month of November, Vermilion RCMP laid 61 charges, including 29 criminal code, and 22 provincial offences.

Thirteen of the criminal charges were related to failing to comply with conditions/court related, 15 were related to property crimes, and three were related to persons crimes.

Further, one individual was issued notice of administrative penalties for driving while impaired. 

Of the total charges:

  • 95 were related to traffic/vehicle complaints,
  • 50 were related to property crimes,
  • 18 were related to persons crimes,
  • 22 were traffic collisions, 
  • 7 were suspicious persons or vehicles. 

Of the property crime:

  • 11 were mischiefs (damage to property or obstructing lawful enjoyment),
  • 10 were break and enters,
  • 7 were thefts,
  • 7 were frauds 
  • 8 were thefts of vehicles.
  • 4 calls were related to spousal abuse,
  • 8 were related to mental health concerns.

“As the weather fluctuates in the near term, and we approach the holiday season, I would just like to remind folks to drive safely and allow extra time to arrive at your destination,” says Sergeant Corey Buckingham, Vermilion RCMP Detachment Commander.

“I would also encourage those partaking in holiday festivities to ensure they have arranged safe and sober rides home.”

Business hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday excluding stat holidays. If it is an emergency, you can also call 911. Non-emergent crimes can be reported via Online Crime Reporting and the Alberta RCMP App which is available through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
