Temporary disruptions at Elk Point Healthcare Centre Emergency Department
Due to the inability to secure physician coverage, the Elk Point Healthcare Centre emergency department (ED) will be temporarily without on-site physician coverage for the following time periods:
- Thursday, December 5, 7:00 p.m. to Friday, December 6, 8:00 a.m.
- Monday, December 9, 7:00 a.m. to Tuesday, December 10, 8:00 a.m.
- Friday, December 13, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Friday, December 27, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Due to ongoing physician coverage gaps, the Elk Point Healthcare Centre Emergency Department (ED) will remain closed from 7 a.m. on Wednesdays to 8 a.m. on Thursdays until further notice.
Nursing staff will continue to be on-site during these closures to provide triage, assessments, and referrals to alternate emergency departments in nearby communities, ensuring patients receive the care they need.
In case of a medical emergency, residents are reminded to call 911. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will remain available to the community and will work closely with the local healthcare centre to support emergency needs.
For non-emergency health-related questions, residents are encouraged to contact Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7.
If coverage becomes available, these closures may be canceled. This is a temporary measure, and efforts are ongoing to restore full services and ensure Elk Point residents have access to the care they need.
Lakeland Connect appreciates the support of surrounding healthcare centres and medical teams and thanks the community for their understanding and patience during this time.
