It’s a massive opportunity for the École des Beaux-Lacs girls volleyball team, who aim to medal, or dare to dream of gold, as they host ASAA 1A Girls Volleyball Provincials.
With the kickoff on Thursday, group play and playdown games continue on throughout Friday, before the semi-final and medal matches on Saturday.
Beaux Lacs and BCHS’ gyms are being utilized for courts for the 12-team tournament.
The previous weekend, EBL beat St. Jerome’s Catholic School (Vermilion) to claim the zone banner. With École des Beaux-Lacs guaranteed through as host, STJ will also be at the tournament, as well as Two Hills as a wildcard in the northeast zone.

ENDHS girls win for a first
In 3A girls, Notre Dame High School girls are back to Provincials, but for the first time at that level. Typically, ENDHS has competed in 2A, which is dictated by school size, like when they won Provincials in 2022.
They won the zone for the right to represent the northeast in Ponoka.
Northeast strong
École Plamondon School took home the 1A boys banner, beating St. Jerome’s in the final. Both teams will go to Provincials, hosted by St. Michael’s in Pincher Creek.
FG Miller in Elk Point will represent the northeast zone after a 2A boys banner win. They are in Glenmary for Provincials.
