Cold Lake Corporal facing accusation of stolen valour

Last Updated: November 6, 2024By Tags: ,

A Cold Lake military member has been court martialed for a hearing this week regarding stolen valour.

Corporal Rene Duguay has been charged under section 129 of the National Defence Act, which is “an act to the prejudice of good order and discipline.”

This is typically a catch-all type of charge for a variety of different actions.

It is believed Duguay is accused of wearing military medals he did not earn.

The penalty for such an offence can be a monetary fine, which varies, but has previously between $750-1000.

In other cases, an Order of Military Merit could be revoked, or a member could be released from the Canadian Armed Forces.

The hearing takes place on Thursday in Cold Lake.
