Officer assaulted, suspicious vehicle arrests: Bonnyville RCMP weekly report

The Bonnyville RCMP were involved in 154 occurrences from October 25th to November 1st.

Officer assault during arrest

A 34-year-old woman is facing an assault on a police officer charge following an arrest on Friday, Oct. 25.

Bonnyville RCMP were dispatched to a business on the west end, as an intoxicated woman was laying in the grass yelling at customers.

Naomi Cardinal, from Bonnyville, was being booked for mischief, but then assault the officer.

She was released from custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 19.

Suspicious truck was stolen

Three people are facing charges after a suspicious truck was spotted out of town on last Sunday morning at 8:25AM.

Police received reports that the truck was scoping out properties.

RCMP got on it and determined, as they found it stuck in the bush. Three suspects attempted to run.

Two were picked up by Bonnyville RCMP, while Lac La Biche RCMP arrested the third the next day.

Keith Cardinal, 38 year old, and Savanna Waskahat, 29 year old, both of Lac La Biche,are charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000 and one count Under $5000. 

Cardinal is additionally charged with Mischief Under $5000.  

Gui Mountain, 33 year old, of Beaver Lake, is charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000 and Assault with a Weapon. 

All three accused were released from custody and are due to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on November 26th.

Trailer park had passenger with deadly ties

On Oct. 26th at 5:45PM, Bonnyville RCMP were called to a local trailer park to deal with a suspicious car that kept moving and stopping repeatedly. 

Police arrived and did a roadside check. The driver had an expired driver’s licence and the car had no registration or insurance. 

RCMP discovered that one of the occupants was on conditions from an attempted murder investigation out of Buffalo Lake (Boyle RCMP) and was supposed to be on house arrest, and not be in contact with the driver. 

Elijah Auigbelle, 20 year old, was arrested and is charged with two counts of failing to comply with conditions.  

He was transported back to cells and was remanded at his Bail Hearing. His first appearance date is November 12th.  The vehicle was towed and various tickets issued to driver.

C2 hit and run

A big collision in the parking lot of the Centennial Centre last Monday evening at 5:30PM saw two SUVs collide, with one of them leaving the scene at a “high rate of speed.”

Police say the victim SUV sustained major damage. 

RCMP located the suspect SUV a few blocks away parked at a residence. 

Further investigation revealed that the 28 year old female driver of the SUV carried only a British Columbia Learner’s licence. 

She was issued a summons for Driver in Accident Fail to Remain at the Scene with a court date of Dec 17th.

She was additionally issued two fines under the Traffic Safety Act, Driver in Accident fail to Report to Police ($405) and Learner Drive without Proper Supervision ($324).

The driver’s name was not released.

Halloween fun

Approximately 200 trick-or-treaters stopped by the detachment during their safe Halloween event. They also passed out safety tips in pumpkins donated by All About You.
