A suspicious vehicle on the road led to the driver facing several charges, including drug trafficking and weapons offences.

Bonnyville RCMP patrolling on Tuesday saw a older pickup with a smashed rear windshield on 66 Street, which did not stop or signal at a stop sign.

When the truck went to a gas station, police conducted a roadside check.

Police discovered the driver didn’t have a valid licence, leading to the truck being towed. Then during a vehicle inventory, RCMP found meth, other drug paraphernalia and over $500 cash.

Kyle Rooks, 40-year-old, from Cold Lake, was placed under arrest.

He faces charges of Possession of Meth for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Stolen Property and two Weapons Offences for having a homemade taser.

He was released from custody by a Justice of the Peace and set to appear in Bonnyville Provincial court on November 5th.
