The Wednesday disruptions will continue this September at the Elk Point hospital.

Starting tomorrow, each Wednesday in September, the Elk Point Healthcare Centre emergency will be without physician coverage. 

The ER dates:

  • 8 a.m., Wednesday, September 4 to 8 a.m., Thursday, September 5
  • 8 a.m., Wednesday, September 11 to 8 a.m., Thursday, September 12
  • 8 a.m., Wednesday, September 18 to 8 a.m., Thursday, September 19
  • 8 a.m., Wednesday, September 25 to 8 a.m., Thursday, September 26

Nursing staff will remain on-site in the emergency department during these times, providing triage, assessments and referrals for patients to alternate emergency departments in surrounding communities, as needed. 

These disruptions are not new.

Since May, there has been several days without a doctor in the emergency department, typically being Wednesdays.

If coverage is found, disruptions may be cancelled.
