Vermilion RCMP monthly report sees 61 charges laid in May

During the month of May 2024, Vermilion RCMP responded to 255 calls for service.

Of those, 82 were related to traffic/vehicle complaints, 53 were related to property crimes, 16 were related to persons crimes, nine were traffic collisions, and 13 were suspicious persons or vehicles.

Property crimes included 14 break and enters, 14 thefts, 11 were mischiefs (damage to property or obstructing lawful enjoyment), five were frauds, and four were thefts of vehicles. In addition, nine were related to persons involving mental health concerns and two were related to spousal abuse.

During this period, Vermilion RCMP laid 61 charges, including 23 criminal code, and 38 provincial offences. Twelve of the criminal charges were related to persons crimes, nine were related to failing to comply with conditions/court, one was related to property crime and one was related to driving while prohibited. Further, two individuals were issued notice of administrative penalties for driving while impaired.
