A Bonnyville man is facing charges after smashing truck windows and uttering threats.

The incident happened at 2:00AM on Thursday, June 13.

RCMP say a Bonnyville resident from the 4800 block of 43 Street was woken up by a 20-year-old male acquaintance of the family. They instructed him to leave for being too loud and intoxicated.

Police said the suspect was argumentative and the homeowner’s son emerged from his room to help his father. The suspect then shoved the son prior to being escorted out of the house.

He then uttered that if he was kicked out he would smash the windows of the homeowner’s truck.

The suspect was then escorted from the residence and smashed all the windows of the victim’s truck causing more than $5000 damage and rendering the truck undriveable.

The Bonnyville RCMP were called to the scene and Calo Berland was arrested and placed in the back of a police vehicle.

“Before the officer could lock the doors, a female youth opened the back door where Berland was sitting,” Bonnyville RCMP said on Friday.

“The officer quickly closed the door and prevented the female from further obstruction. The female then became argumentative with the officer and would not comply with what the officer was saying. She too was arrested and lodged in jail for obstruction. “

Berland is charged with Assault, four counts of Uttering Threats, Mischief Over $5000 and Disobeying a Court Order from previous Robbery charges.

He was lodged in police cells for a bail hearing where he was denied bail and remanded into custody.  He is set to appear in court on June 18th.  The youth female was released to a parent when sober without charges and warned for obstruction.
