Lakeland Ride for Dad kicks off season
Since 2015, they have raised over $150,000 in the fight against prostate cancer.
The Lakeland Ride for Dad Society got their season kicked off with a BBQ at Sick Cycles in Bonnyville on Wednesday evening.
Annually, this group puts together a big motorcycle ride to raise money for prostate cancer research, often times around Father’s Day.
This year’s Lakeland ride is scheduled for June 22, which also includes a pker run, prizes, meals, and a day of activities at the Alexander Community Hall.
Participants can enter with $40 or collect $100 in pledges.
The motorcycle riders were fundraising on this occasion last week for the Clayton Bellamy Foundation of the Arts in their bid for a new performing arts theatre.
Every Sunday riders are gathering at the Royal Canadian Legion branch in Bonnyville for a ride at 1:00pm.
They also plan to be involved at the Veterans UN Nato Cold Lake crew’s Toy Run to benefit Lakeland Emergency Services. This is to benefit Valour Place and will be held at the Cherry Grove Hall.
While the weather kept the attendance down from 2023, there are many ways to get involved as a rider or volunteer.
With prostate cancer as the gathering cause, the Man Van is coming to Cold Lake on June 7. This is a no appointment opportunity to get a free baseline blood test for men aged 50-70, which can help with early detection of prostate cancer.
