Almost a week after Lakeland Connect reported that M.D. Reeve Barry Kalinski was “safe, but trapped” in Haiti due to his missionary work, the situation remains the same.

There have been some calls to get a way to Florida, but at the moment, Kalinski and his fellow missionary from Mission of Grace, Natalie Cross, are still hunkered down in the orphanage hoping for a resolution. Miriam Cinotti was able to find a way home.

He appeared on CNN with Cross on a program called Connect the World with Becky Anderson.

“We’re just waiting day by day. There’s an organization trying to get us out right now. Half us out got out, but Nat and I are the last ones to get out from our group. We’re just waiting patiently and hoping it might come true today. But we don’t know,” Kalinski said on CNN.

Haiti’s government has disintegrated as gangs have taken over the capital of Port-au-Prince. Kalinski is currently in Plaisance-du-Sud, a village about 200 kilometres west of Port-au-Prince.
