The U18 Elk Point Avalanche had been idle for about a month. Some kind of break in the schedule. But they finally played two games this past weekend.
The U18 Tier #3 East division of the North East league is very competitive. The top team right now is Provost with 18 points. After that, Elk Point, Marwayne/Dewberry, Bonnyville, and Onion Lake are all within one point of the top sitting with 17 points each.
This past weekend, the U18 Avalanche traveled to Plamondon winning 4-0. ‘Saint Nick’ Penner with a goal and two assists and Kaleb ‘Formula One’ Flamanad with one goal and one assist. Quinton ‘ Rampage Quinney’ and ‘Kamikaze Kid’ Kade Fontaine each had one goal, with two assists for Gavin ‘Green Light’ Kadutski, ‘Bo Diddley’ Fontaine, Seth ‘Mororman’ Morton and Courage Monias all adding assists.
This past Friday, Hockey Alberta announced Mallaig as the host site for the Tier #3 U18 provincials. It’s exciting for them. The host and the top team in the North East league will be there in March, along with six other Tier #3 teams in the province.
On Sunday, the U18 traveled to Mallaig coming home with a six all tie. Kamikaze Kid with two goals. ‘Top Gunner’ Crawford with a goal and an assist. Everett Deschamps, Green Light and Motor Man with the other goals. Two assists for Sam ‘Spiderman’ Rogal, Formula One and Evett ‘Snoop Dog’ Smereka with one assist each.
The U13 Avalanche, who hosted a six team tournament this past weekend, will travel to Marwayne on Wednesday night to take on the Renegades and then shut down until the New Year.
The leading and undefeated U15 Avalanche will be hosting Cold Lake here at home on Thursday night at 7pm. Should be a good one to finish up the year before the Christmas break.
