New Myrnam School was presented a cheque from ATCO Energy as part of their green initiatives.
On Thursday, officials handed the big $5,000 cheque to the staff of the small, rural school, located southwest of Elk Point.
The 2023 Clean Energy Community Fund from ATCO had several beneficiaries, including Stepping Stones Crisis Centre in Cold Lake, and the Town of Smoky Lake.
The school has had several A+ for Energy Projects, beginning a few years ago.
They are currently working on their Net Zero Tiny Home project, transforming an end of life school bus into a tiny home. Expectations are to complete the project in June 2024.
Focuses have been on reducing carbon footprints, building renewable energy systems, and a sustainable greenhouse project.
