Man airlifted to Edmonton after collision with tow truck: Kitscoty RCMP
Alcohol and drugs don’t appear to be factors at the moment, police say.
A motorist was airlifted to Edmonton late last night outside of Lloydminster after a serious collision between a vehicle and a tow truck.
The incident happened on Tuesday night at 7:25pm. Kitscoty RCMP responded to a collision involving two vehicles on Township Road 494 (12 street) between Range Road 12 and 14 just outside of Lloydminster.
Police say that upon investigation, it was determined that a pickup going eastbound struck a parked tow truck’s ramp. This sent the truck into the air, hitting the cab of the tow truck.
The tow truck had been responding to a service call with its ramp down and emergency lights activated, RCMP say.
The driver of the tow truck was transported to Lloydminster Hospital and then airlifted to Edmonton with serious injuries. The driver of the pick-up truck sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene.
RCMP continue the investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
Although early, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors, police say.
