Bonnyville Food Bank at “critical shortage”

A local Bonnyville business is trying to help out as the food bank sits at a critically low point for donations.

The Bonnyville Friendship Centre is putting out calls on social media to the community to assist those in need, saying they need support “now more than ever.”

Items they need:

  •  Chef Boyardee/Can Pasta
  •  Cookies and Crackers
  •  Juice Boxes
  •  Peanut free granola Bars
  •  Hamburger/Tuna Helper
  •  Canned Fruit & Fruit Cups
  •  Breakfast Cereal
  •  Coffee/Tea
  • Instant Noodles
  •  Canned Meat, such as chicken,
  • ham, tuna and turkey
  •  Jam
  •  Rice
  •  Shelf life milk/canned milk
  •  Pudding snacks for lunches
  •  Peanut Butter

Meanwhile, Friends Tubular Services is doing a food drive at local businesses for today and tomorrow, after beginning earlier this week.

They are looking to fill up their trailer with goods to hand to the Friendship Centre.

“We are calling on any individuals that are able and businesses in our area to assist us in this critical cause. Anything from food to toiletries to school supplies is needed, especially coming into the school season,” they say.

On Wednesday, they will be at Lakeland Fine Floors Bonnyville from 11:00am-3:30pm. Then on Thursday at  Sobeys Bonnyville from 10:00am-3:30pm.

Right afterwards on Thursday they’ll make the delivery.

Friends Tubular is also doing giveaway draws if you make a donation.
