Massive drug bust sees over 60 grams of cocaine & 30 grams of meth seized
The Bonnyville RCMP have arrested several people related to a drug trafficking scheme.
Investigating for several months, police seized:
- 30.4 grams of methamphetamine
- 62.5 grams of cocaine
- A stolen 2013 Subarea Impreza
- tazers
- an imitation firearm
- a crossbow
- Canadian Currency
- and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.
Arrests have been happening for several weeks relating to the case.
Lionel Normand, 65, a resident of Bonnyville, was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 16 and charged with:
- Trafficking methamphetamine (x2)
- Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of cocaine
- Operation while impaired
- Operation while prohibited
Normand was taken before a justice of the peace and was remanded into custody with his next court date set for Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Bonnyville.
Ronnie Vachone, 24, a resident of Bonnyville, was arrested July 4, and charged with:
- Trafficking cocaine (x3)
- Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon (x2)
- Carrying a concealed weapon
Vachone was taken before a justice of the peace and was released from custody with his next court date set for Sept. 19, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Bonnyville.
Kevin Madden, 46, a resident of Bonnyville was arrested July 4, 2023, and charged with:
- Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
- Refusal to comply with demand
Madden was taken before a justice of the peace and was released from custody with his next court date set for Sept. 5, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Bonnyville.
Ashley Gaulton, 36, a resident of Bonnyville, was arrested on July 4, 2023 and charged with Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.
Gaulton was taken before a justice of the peace and release from custody with her next court date set for Sept. 5, 2023 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Bonnyville.
“Drug abuse has a devastating impact on our communities,” says Staff Sergeant Sarah Parke Detachment Commander Bonnyville, “focusing our efforts on these drug traffickers can have a larger impact on violence and property crimes as well. “
