Carwash getaway foiled as RCMP arrest two after investigation

Two people are facing charges after a fraud investigation where suspects rammed a civilian vehicle while trying to get away.

On June 12, at roughly 2:33pm, Lac La Biche RCMP received a report of a fraud at Louis’ Carwash in Lac La Biche.

RCMP said they approached the vehicle to speak with the driver and passenger, which lead to the vehicle feeling.

It then rammed into a civilian’s vehicle in the carwash, causing injury to the driver and significant damage to their vehicle.

Police followed the runaway blue Dodge but stopped because of the erratic driving of the suspects.

RCMP said now they have identified and arrested the two suspects.

James Dean Lameman, 29, and Samantha Binkowski, 32, both of no fixed address, have been charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Mischief over $5,000
  • Failure to stop after accident resulting in bodily harm

Binkowski was also charged with driving while suspended under the Traffic Safety Act.

After Judicial Interim Release Hearings, both accused have been remanded into custody and will be appearing in Alberta Court of Justice in Lac La Biche on Tuesday, June 27.
