The United Conservative Party of Alberta (UCP) have claimed the majority vote with 49 electorial seats (52.6%) following Monday’s provincial election.

The UCP repesentative will serve as MLA for the riding for the next four years.
Cyr had previously held the MLA position for the Wildrose government for the then Bonnyville – Cold Lake riding.
During his time in office, Cyr was part of the official minority, with the New Democrat Party (NDP), undrr Rachel Notley’s lead, as the official government for Alberta.
It was during that time, the NDP redrew the area’s electorial boundaries, forging two ridings together to create the Bonnyville – Cold Lake – St. Paul riding.
This caused one conservative held seat to be eliminated. Thus, Cyr did not run in the 2019 Alberta election. Rather he endorsed former MLA Dave Hanson for the position.
In 2022, Cyr announced his intention to run for MLA. He won the nomination for UCP candidate by one vote.
This political term will likely be a lot different for Cyr, who’s party of choice, the UCPs have claim the majority votes over Rachel Notley’s NDP.
Danielle Smith will continue her reign as Alberta’s Premier.
