Arrest made in Cold Lake hit & run case

On Oct. 31, 2022, Cold Lake RCMP responded to assist Emergency Services with a 15-years-old female laying on the road who had been hit by a vehicle at the junction of Highway 28 and 43 Avenue by MacDonald. The victim lost consciousness and was transported to the Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of extensive investigation, on May 30, 2023, Cold Lake RCMP arrested 47-year-old Gerald Matthew Barron, a resident of Cold Lake.

Barron was charged with one count of failure to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm. He was released on an Appearance Notice to attend Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake on June 21, 2023.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further information will be released.

Background

On Oct. 31, 2022 at 4:57 a.m. , Cold Lake RCMP responded to assist Emergency Services with a 15-years-old female laying on the road who had been hit by a vehicle at the junction of Highway 28 and 43 Avenue by MacDonald. The victim lost consciousness and was transported to the Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

During the investigation, Cold Lake RCMP identified a white 2022 Ford F150 Platinum edition Truck with Alberta Licence plate CKH0443 as being the vehicle that hit the pedestrian and left the scene. The vehicle was recovered abandoned near the location of the accident.
