Smoky conditions are expected to make temperatures drop to almost freezing on Wednesday night.

Wildfire smoke has taken over the air in many parts of Alberta and the Lakeland included.

People with lung disease (such as asthma) or heart disease, older adults, children, pregnant people, and people who work outdoors are at higher risk of experiencing health effects caused by wildfire smoke.

Environment Canada predicts smoky conditions throughout Thursday in the region with a high of 19 degrees.

Overnight on Wednesday, a low of two degrees is expected.

Wind gusting between 20-40km/r will remain through Wednesday with a 30 per cent of showers.

Into May Long weekend, temperatures are expected to return to the mid-20s, turning cloudy into Victoria Day.
