Lakeland Jaguars will attempt to defend their title at the U18 Female B Hockey Provincials
The U18 Lakeland Jaguars will be hosting the U18 Female B Hockey Provincials from March 30- April 2 at the Cold Lake Energy Centre.
Only six teams will come this year as the wildcard eligibility is no longer in place. This will be the second year in a row that the Jags will be the hosting team.
Last year, the Jaguars went through their playoff season undefeated and then went on to win the 2022 Provincial Championships.
They will play their first game of the tournament on March. 31 in the Energy Centre against Beaverlodge, puck drop at 2:00 p.m.
For their 2022-23 regular season, the Jags went 16-1 with 33 points making for a 10-point difference from the second-place team at 23 points the Battle River Knights who are the only team to beat the Jags this regular season.
On March 4-5 they took on the U18 St. Paul Canadiens in the playoffs where they went 0-2 losing by one goal in both matchups affecting their statistics to now be 16-3.
Cierra Nuttall is a standing-out player for the Jags as she is second in leading points for the U18 division with 28 goals, and 12 assists for a total of 40 points and trailing behind first place by one goal and two points with 2 fewer games played.
Nuttall also led the points race in Provincials last year with six goals and four assists with no penalty minutes.
The Jaguars goalies hold first and second in the league, Ava Pinch with three shutouts this season and a save percentage of 0.966. While Kyra Quinney has two shutouts on the year and a save percentage of 0.937.
