Lac La Biche RCMP arrest two after pointing a firearm

Two people have been arrested following an incident of pointing a firearm.

The situation happened on Monday, March 20 at around 2:00pm. Lac La Biche RCMP were dispatched to the pointing of a firearm out of a Chevrolet Silverado at a white SUV along Mountain Trail in Beaver Lake, police said. 

Police then set on the lookout for suspects who were considered armed and dangerous.

Through investigation, on Thursday March 23, Lac La Biche RCMP, Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, RCMP Police Dog Services and RCMP Emergency Response Team, found and arrested two suspects in relation to this crime.  

Clayton Joseph Huppie, 39, a resident of Lac La Biche, is facing a total of 14 charges:

  • Pointing a firearm
  • Possession of firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of weapon contrary to order x 6
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2
  • Uttering Threats
  • Operation of Motor vehicle while prohibited

After a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Huppie was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Bonnyville Provincial court on Tuesday, March 28.

Bianca Beretta Berard, 33, a resident of Lac La Biche, has been charged with possession of firearm in a motor vehicle.

After a Judicial Interim Release hearing, she was released for court on April 17, 2023, in Lac La Biche Provincial Court.
