Town of Bonnyville 75th Anniversary Celebration
The Town of Bonnyville is hosting a birthday celebration for the 75th anniversary of Bonnyville becoming a town.
Bonnyville was officially named a Town on February 16, 1948, and before then declared a village on September 19, 1929.
“I think it’s very important to celebrate your history and your past. We didn’t become what we are today overnight,” said Ray Prevost, former Mayor and long-time councillor.
“Bonnyville just didn’t show up out of nowhere. It took a lot of hard work and committed people and we are where we are today because of that.”
To celebrate, Bonnyville’s events committee has put together an evening of fun on Saturday, March 18.
“I’m really excited, our events committee let us know that this is the 75th birthday of the Town of Bonnyville, and we should be celebrating it,” said Elisa Brosseau, current Mayor.
Starting at 3:00 p.m. at Pontiac Park, tobogganing, snow painting, bubbles, and sleigh rides until 8:00 p.m. when the night will be finished off with fireworks.
Residents can enjoy s’mores, hotdogs, and hot chocolate and check out the three-on-three hockey tournament at the Bonnyville District Centennial Centre’s outdoor rink.
“I’m looking forward to it,” said Brosseau.
