Cold Lake’s Age Friendly 3rd Annual Ice Fishing Tournament coming soon
This catch, photo, release tournament will be on Cold Lake from Feb. 17-19, with several prizes to offer adults and youth.
Instead of the top three biggest catches like in previous years, it will now be a top five, with the first place adult with a prize of $5000 and youth $200. Also, there are daily biggest fish prizes, best three combined, and 50 wildcard prizes that anyone registered in the tournament is eligible for.
“It’s definitely high energy, everyone loves this event, it is just absolutely amazing,” said Cathy Aust, a representative from Age Friendly.
This tournament is to support the Age-Friendly Cold Lake whose mission is to provide a variety of programs and services to help seniors in the community.
The event was sold out in seven days but 50/50 tickets are still available.
“It’s our major fundraiser of the year to help vulnerable seniors who have low income, there is a lot of excitement around this event, it’s something fun. With a small community the support is great even neighbouring communities all the way down to Edmonton as far as sponsorships,” said Aust.
“And a lot of the excitement is coming through the prizes offered by the sponsorships, and through the registration.”’
This is a lake trout only tournament and everything will be logged through the MyCatch app.
“I wanna thank everyone who will be participating in the tournament and especially the sponsors, our sponsors are listed on our Facebook page and we are grateful for the support the tournament has and the people who are benefiting from it are our seniors,” said Aust.
