Bus Cancellations for Thursday, February 2nd

Due to extreme cold a number of Lakeland area buses have been cancelled. Schools remain open and classes resume.

 

Northern Light Public Schools have cancelled its Bonnyville routes, along with some other routes. Find your bus status here: https://www.nlpsab.ca/transportation/bus-status

St. Paul Regional Education Division buses have cancelled the majority of its buses. You can find your status here: https://www.stpauleducation.ab.ca/busing

 

Le transport scolaire est annulé pour les écoles suivantes : du Sommet, Beaux-Lacs, Beauséjour et Voyageur en matinée, en raison du froid extrême. Le service reprendra cet après-midi. Les écoles restent ouvertes. School buses are cancelled this morning for those schools : du Sommet, Beaux-Lacs, Beauséjour, Voyageur due to extreme cold weather. Schools remain open. The buses will be in service this afternoon.

 

Extreme Cold Warning issued for the Lakeland

Extremely cold wind chill values near minus 40 or colder will moderate by this afternoon.

 

The coldest wind chill values, near minus 50, are over eastern parts of the province this morning.

 

Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.

 

Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

 

If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.

 

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
