County of Vermilion Protective Services extinguish structure fire near Marwayne
Early morning tones sent Marwayne Fire & Rescue out toward Highway 45 on Tuesday morning for a reported structure fire.
The first arriving unit reported a fully involved residential house fire with heavy smoke and flames. Crews established an aggressive combination attack on the west side of the building before transitioning to the exterior to battle the deep-seated fires. 2nd alarm tones were followed shortly by Dewberry Fire & Rescue and Clandonald Fire for water support and additional firefighters.
A steady stream of Tankers established a rural water shuttle, while a 3rd alarm assignment was sent to Kitscoty Fire Department for more equipment and water. Relay pumping allowed for a considerable amount of water to be brought to bear on the blaze, and relief crews from Clandonald and Kitscoty moved in and extinguished the fire shortly before 6 a.m.
One patient was treated on-scene by EMS & County medical responders but was since released.

A cat was saved during the fire attack and was assessed before being turned over to a neighbour temporarily
The fire investigator has been assigned. The fire is not suspicious at this time.
Thanks to our wonderful dispatchers at EC911, a neighbour who plowed the driveway for our trucks, our Peace Officers for the rehabilitation and fire watch, as well as our partners Medavie Health Services West – Northeast Alberta and ATCO.
