Pierceland RCMP search for potentially armed truck, involved in shooting
Pierceland RCMP is on the search for a vehicle that is could be dangerous after being involved in a shooting nearly an hour east of Bonnyville early this morning.
Police received a report at 12:30am of a shot fired from a vehicle travelling south on an access road on Big Island Cree Territory.
RCMP said the source of the gunshot came from a pick-up truck with very bright headlights reported to have been tailgating the vehicle.
Pierceland RCMP responded immediately and made patrols around the community for the suspect pick-up truck. At approximately 2:15 a.m., they located the pick-up truck travelling through the Big Island Cree Territory town site.
After attempts failed to stop the vehicle, police pursued the vehicle, but stopped as the suspects were throwing things from the vehicle.
The truck is believed to be occupied by four adult females who may be armed with firearms. Is is described as a silver 2010 GMC pick-up truck with a crew cab, and a license plate ending with “WK”. The provincial issuer of the license plate is unknown at this time.
Residents are advised not to approach or contact the occupants, instead report the sighting or any information related to the pick-up truck’s whereabouts to police immediately by calling 310-RCMP or your local police service.
“Pierceland RCMP are conducting proactive patrols in the area, obtaining witness statements, and following-up on information provided to police to help locate the vehicle and the suspects involved,” a press release Wednesday afternoon said.
The investigation is ongoing.
