Stepping Stones Crisis Society helped 220 women & children in last year
Although they have a new name, its the same level of top notch support that those in need get at Stepping Stones Crisis Society.
The new name for the Dr. Margaret Savage Crisis Centre, is now the Stepping Stones Crisis Society after a change in October 2022.
But over the course of the last year, they continued to help vulnerable women and families get out of domestic violence situations.
The shelter helped over 220 women and children in the last year, including 2080 safe bed nights.
They hope in the next year to develop a new building to help service the growing demand.
Stepping Stones’ shelter beds are often at capacity so a new space would help alleviate that issue, as well as keeping its second stage apartment units.
Joie’s Phoenix House, the second stage apartment units, houses 30 individuals per year.
That is just one of its additional services, as well as the community kitchen, pet housing, 24 hour emergency hotline, and healthy babies program.
Stepping Stones Crisis Society relies on the generous contribution of local donors to close the funding gap.
