Scott Cyr is officially the United Conservative Party nominee for the Bonnyville-Cold Lake-St. Paul constituency.

The results of the recount and followup analysis of eight disputed ballots was released on Friday afternoon.

Heading into Thursday’s meeting with the UCP Board that was looking at the disapproved ballots, Cyr was ahead of David Hanson by two votes.

This was different than the count done in St. Paul last Monday, which had Cyr ahead by one.

Of the disputed ballots, Hanson was granted two more votes and Cyr one.

The final count finished with Cyr receiving 314 votes and Hanson receiving 313.

The announcement puts to an end an eleven day saga between when the polls closed and when the winner was announced.

Cyr previously served as a Wild Rose and UCP MLA for Bonnyville-Cold Lake from 2015 to 2019.
