Canadiens fall short to Wainwright Bisons in 3-2 final

Saturday, the Canadiens faced their fourth loss of the season 3-2 against the Wainwright Bisons.

With a stand-in goalie Sebstian Culhum in for the Canadiens, he held his own with 27 saves at the end of the night but the defence just wasn’t there.

It was a big two points in the standings as the Canadiens entered the action in first and the Bisons in third.

“The little details that we have talked about all year, that we just didn’t come through and those are lessons we have to learn now rather than in February,” said Corey deMoissac, head coach of the Canadiens.

“His compete level has always been crazy, I was not afraid of him, big future ahead of him.”

Feeling defeated after their big 11-4 victory against the Vegreville Rangers, they still have another game to play before Christmas and the New Year arrive.

“It’s one of those ones that hurts and stings, and it always seems to be here. We have to swallow and learn and ask ourselves what we can do better next time.”

The team is going back to the whiteboard for their upcoming game against the Cold Lake Ice.

“The one team in this league that seems to give us trouble and we have to be ready for them, they have been playing well recently and we have to be ready for them,” said deMoissac.

With only scoring two in the first, the Canadiens’ defence just couldn’t hold off the Bison’s for the remaining 40.

Isaak Watters with one of the goals has 31 points and now holds second place among the scoring leaders for the NEAJBHL.
