Bonnyville RCMP and Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit arrest theft suspect

On Nov. 3, 2022, RCMP officers from the Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit and the Bonnyville Detachment were conducting patrols in the Town of Bonnyville. They located a suspect vehicle which they recognised as being involved in recent criminal activity in the area, including flight from police. Police surrounded a residential property where a lone male suspect was arrested and taken into custody. It was also determined that the involved suspect vehicle was stolen from the Vermilion area.

Robert John Poole (41), a resident of Bonnyville, was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Alter/destroy/remove vehicle identification number
  • Flight from Police
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited
  • Common nuisance endangering life

Poole was held for a judicial interim release hearing where he was released by a Justice of the Peace on a cash bail release order with conditions. Poole is scheduled to attend Bonnyville Provincial Court on Dec. 6, 2022.
